Let’s feast, Meridian. Longtime Boise staple opens new restaurant where BBQ chain closed

Apr 08, 2025

Mark another “cheat day” on your calendar, Meridian.

And start rubbing those defibrillator paddles.

A longtime Boise hamburger staple just brought its glorious gut bombs to your city.

Bad Boy Burgers recently opened a new fast-food restaurant at 2845 E. Overland Road — just west of Eagle Road. Located where a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit closed last year, it’s the third location for Bad Boy, which also operates at 6875 S. Federal Way and at 815 S. Vista Ave. — where it debuted in 1996.

After nearly three decades, Bad Boy still plays things relatively straight in the burger universe: proudly calorie-packed and filling. “Good is good, but Bad is better!” its motto declares. The namesake Bad Boy Burger ($11.99) is two quarter-pound patties, bacon, American cheese, Swiss cheese, chili, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mustard.

In addition to selling hefty burgers, Bad Boy’s menu offers sandwiches such as chicken or Philly, plus finger steaks, fries and salads. Bad Boy also cranks out all-day breakfast: a variety of burritos, bowls, egg sandwiches and the like.

Bad Boy is the second longtime local burger brand to take over a former chain restaurant recently in the area. In January, Big Bun Drive-In opened an expansion location at 4999 W. Glenwood St., near the corner of Glenwood and Chinden Boulevard in Garden City. It took over a former Carl’s Jr. building that served Idahoans for about two decades before closing in 2023.
